I am a first year Ph.D. student at the University of California Santa Barbara. Broadly, I am interested in how ecosystems function, how these functions produce human-derived services, and how to represent these ecosystem processes in mechanistic and ultimately predictive models over broad scales. Currently, I am studying the initial dynamics and recovery of vegetation on a recently restored reach of the Merced River in California's Central Valley.
