Up to Introductions
Danny

Hello everyone. My name is Danny Dalton, a first year Master's student of Horticulture at Oregon State University. I am studying mechanisms of resistance in currants and gooseberries (genus Ribes) to white pine blister rust, a disease caused by the fungal pathogen Cronartium ribicola. The bulk of the literature on wpbr has been directed at white pines, but I am working in conjunction with the USDA to continue research on the alternate Ribes hosts.
I am originally from Wyoming and have spent a few field seasons in the wilderness of the Rocky mountains surveying for invasive plants and diseases. Most recently though, I have lived in Minnesota, working at the ecologically renowned LTER site Cedar Creek Natural History Area for more than a year. I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to be the data collector for the next paper written by Dave Tilman, and I aspire to continue to make a difference in the scientific community in a more direct way.
My interests extend beyond working with natural ecosystems and include aspects such as land and watershed restoration. I am interested in methods of maximizing biodiversity and environmental services in managed systems. I am an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys hiking, snowboarding, and exploring.
I look forward to meeting you all throughout this seminar!
