Up to Introductions
Sergio José Vilchez Mendoza (Nica)

Hello,
I am Sergio, I am a first year Nicaraguan student at CATIE, in the Master
program Tropical Forest Management and Conservation. I got a degree in Ecology at Universidad
Centroamericana (UCA), Nicaragua.
I have worked on Biodiversity
in agricultural landscapes, working with different taxa (birds, bats, beetles
and butterfly), particularly comparing bird diversity between different landscape elements. I have also
worked as bird-watching instructor and in bird banding programs (MoSI) at several
natural reserves. Currently I am also a volunteer of the Duck Unlimited program (duck population counting).
My
interests are landscape ecology: fragmentation effects on biodiversity through different
land use types, biodiversity conservation status on agricultural landscape.
I am glad to be part of this discussion group,
though I am still in the learning English process, at the basic level.
Deacachimba
trabajar con ustedes.
Sergio
