Bird Functional Diversity
Up to Publication
Hi all,
I hope your fall is off to a good start. It's been a beautiful one out here on the East Coast, although a bit on the dry side.
I've attached Excel spreadsheets with the birds from eastern N. America categorized by the functional groupings that Fabrice's group used. Does anyone have bird data from another region (other than Central America) that we should analyze this way?
Thanks...
OK, apparently I won't be attaching any files at the moment! Seems to be a lack of permission/access. Maybe because I'm using a computer I didn't use last spring?
Ok, well according to Shaun (the NCEAS site administrator) we can no longer post attachments here on the discussion boards. So instead, I have created a folder called 'data' in the Linear Habitats folder where we can upload datafiles.

I have uploaded these three files:
CAdata(birds): this is our current, functioning spreadsheet on central american birds and linear habitats. I have added a second worksheet that contains the master list of species along with columns for the functional data we will be extracting from the other spreadsheets.
BirdTraits_8-10: This is the database from the Functional Diversity group. It contains information on both central american and (some) north american species. This is the most comprehensive database, so look here first.
Funct_Gps_Birds_Philpott: This the database from the Mechanisms group. It contains functional information on mostly Mexican species.
Whoever works on our spreadsheet, please keep track of any spelling errors or changes to species names. These corrections will need to be made to the master file.
